"Mr. Houston's statements yesterday, in my mind, didn't seem that definitive, to be quite honest [...] Something has to change here. Our community has gone through the ringer three times in eight years with this nonsense, all based on the notion of greed. Cabot is always going to spin this as a way to revitalize Mabou, as a 'give' to our community. And it was never, ever a 'give' to our community. This was a a 'take' from our community, pure and simple, based entirely on greed. We cannot allow the Provincial Parks Act to stay the way it is." - Nadine Hunt, Save West Mabou Beach Committee
"Tim Houston has to realize that these parks are not his to give away. These parks are not his to hand off to wealthy developers, special interests groups. These parks are not his to give away in underhanded, behind-closed-door fashion. The change in the Provincial Parks Act has to reflect that... that these parks belong to all the people of the province of Nova Scotia, and he has to realize that, and we have to make the legislative change to reflect that," explains Nadine Hunt, who has now had to fight to keep West Mabou Beach Provincial Park protected three times.
