Mainstreet NS: Concerned Resident on CBC Radio

Updated: Oct 18

CBC Radio (Mainstreet NS) - October 17, 2025 Listen online here

A bid to develop part of West Mabou Beach into a golf course has prompted a local group to try to put a stop to it. Concerned resident, Sivan Hobden, is part of the grassroots group Save West Mabou Beach Provincial Park. She is clear that she's not anti-development, just anti-development in the Provincial Park.

"I am anti-private development in public, protected land. That is the crux of the issue. If Cabot were to build a golf course on private land that they purchase at fair market value from a landowner, this would be a completely, completely different conversation. The issue is protected land, and it sets a precedent for every other park in the province."
