Letter to the Editor by James Bridgland Saltwire - Oct.31, 2022

Given that the province’s own website describes West Mabou Beach Provincial Park as a “unique dune field” that is home to three at-risk bird species (one critically imperilled, the other two vulnerable to extirpation or extinction), plus two imperilled and one vulnerable species of vascular plants, one can but wonder just what would possess Premier Tim Houston to even contemplate consideration of a golf course there.

This is a protected area, Premier Houston. Discussion should be unnecessary, unless you wish to divide the community. Show some leadership, please. Your answer to this proposal should have been and should be “No, not interested.”

James Bridgland, Ingonish Beach
