Claudia Chender, leader of the opposition, met local residents in Mabou to hear their concerns about Cabot’s desire to build a golf course in the West Mabou Beach provincial Park on Monday afternoon. 

"I have a greater understanding of why Mr. Dewar has not bought his own land and an even deeper conviction that West Mabou Beach Provincial Park must remain whole and for the people."

"Sure, he may show up at some Celtic Colours events, but does Nova Scotia Premier Tim Houston understand and appreciate the cultural history and ethos of Cape Breton?"

"Cabot is the epitome of greed," says local resident Nadine Hunt, as Cabot comes after West Mabou Beach Provincial Park for the third time. "They care about nothing but themselves. "They don't care about the environment, or the stress levels they are causing the community, and they don't care about the legislation that's supposed to be protecting it.

Thirty people took the trails at West Mabou Beach Provincial Park on Saturday, from toddlers to senior citizens.
