Conflict is being sown by a government that appears to do deals behind closed doors

Kyle MacQuarrie continues to  hide in the shadows claiming that he knows nothing and has nothing to say about this topic.

If Cabot is as savvy as we’re led to believe, then I wish them all the best in their negotiations with private landowners. But keep your hands off provincial parkland.

This current administration’s behaviour to favour corporate interests is not what Nova Scotians voted for in the last election.

Could we transform the hill where our Glebe House currently sits into a site for a number of business that could cash in on those sunsets?

It is a very slippery slope when the provincial government starts caving to private corporations and handing over our protected areas. If this happens in Mabou, it can continue to happen in other places as well. And each time it does, it dilutes the culture of our province.

Let's show our children how to stand strong against these bullies and make sure this beautiful land stays as it was originally intended to be: a protected place for all current and future generations to enjoy - no matter how much money is in our bank accounts.

This whole process has well run its course and it's time for Rodney MacDonald and Cabot to move on and get over this insidious obsession.

He [Father Bernie] knew there were no do-overs. One chance to get it right or wrong. Please keep him in your hearts as you fight once again.

To see a community that has given so much of itself divided and hurt by this process is heartbreaking. The strength of Mabou has always been in the way people show up for each other, and this development threatens that unity.

"As a student, outdoor third spaces free from admission fees mean the world to me, as some place I can go without having to spend what little money I have."

If you can "de park," then what is the point of naming parks in the first place?

How can you know if your interests are being represented if the processes of government take place behind a veil of secrecy? Transparency is a fundamental principle of democracy and it is absolutely imperative that the public be kept informed.

Claudia Chender, leader of the opposition, met local residents in Mabou to hear their concerns about Cabot’s desire to build a golf course in the West Mabou Beach provincial Park on Monday afternoon. 

"I have a greater understanding of why Mr. Dewar has not bought his own land and an even deeper conviction that West Mabou Beach Provincial Park must remain whole and for the people."

"Sure, he may show up at some Celtic Colours events, but does Nova Scotia Premier Tim Houston understand and appreciate the cultural history and ethos of Cape Breton?"
